Leading Edinburgh hotel, Apex Grassmarket, hasstarted work on a £2 million bedroom refurbishment.
The investment – which is part of a £12 million package of improvements across the Apex Hotels portfolio over the coming year – will see all 169 bedrooms transformed throughout the contemporary hotel, located in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town.
The hotel’s decking area, with beautiful views towards Edinburgh Castle, will also be updated as a result of the seven-figure improvements, allowing guests to enjoy a drinks and dining experience like no other.
Apex Hotels’ investment comes following another consecutive year of strong growth for 2016-17, with a six per cent rise in turnover – up to £65m from £61.3m the previous year.
With tourists attracted to the city for a wide range of world-renowned festivals and a popular conference destination, both leisure and business travellers will continue to enjoy a relaxing stay in Apex Grassmarket as the discreet refurbishments take place.
All of the furniture works throughout the refurbishment will be carried out by Scottish company, Dovetail Enterprises, which was appointed following a tender process due to its expertise and policy on supporting individuals with disabilities through employment opportunities.

As part of the £12 million refurbishment programme, improvements will be made to two further Edinburgh Apex hotels – Haymarket and Waterloo Place – as well as Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa in Dundee, Apex City of London Hotel and Apex Temple Court Hotel, also in London.
