One lucky Edinburgh resident is set to see Disney’s The Lion King at the Edinburgh Playhouse this year, courtesy of Apex Hotels.
On Wednesday afternoon, the family run hotel group transformed the Grassmarket into the Serengeti as they searched for the city’s loudest roar, with the winner taking home a bespoke theatre break package created to celebrate Disney’s The Lion King, which is coming to Edinburgh in December.
Sinking his teeth into the challenge, New Zealander James Moore – who now lives and works in the city – roared his way to the top of the leader board and won the purr-fect theatre package. Hitting 129 decibels, the Easter Road man not only gave Simba a run for his money, but just about matched the sound of a jet taking off, with his terrifying roar.
James will now live like a king later this year, with an overnight stay for two including breakfast and a two-course dinner and, of course, two tickets for the spectacular show.
Those who missed out in taking part can still take advantage of the exclusive offer, which is available to book now until 3 June 2019. Prices start from £274 for two at Apex Grassmarket Hotel and from £280 for two at Apex Waterloo Place.
