The hotel has been working with a range of local charities since December, including the Dundee Bairns, where over 100 festive hampers were distributed to under pressure families and Maggies Culture Crawl, a sponsored walk to Dundee’s cultural havens, raising money for people living with cancer.
Other activities included a quiz night, the distribution of charity donation vouchers to local businesses and a Christmas novelty item sale for Grey Lodge Settlement, a local Hilltown charity working with disadvantaged young people across Dundee.
For the next two months, hotel staff will continue to raise funds, including a sponsored walk from Edinburgh to Dundee, a charity golf day at Carnoustie and a 100-mile Triathlon.
The final event will be a special anniversary gala dinner at Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa on the 24th March, where hotel staff and members of the community will come together to celebrate 20 years of Apex in Dundee.
Through ticket sales and a silent auction, the gala event will raise additional funds for local charities including Maggie’s Centre Dundee, Dundee Bairns, Andy’s Man Club and Grey Lodge Settlement. Tickets for the gala dinner are on sale here experiences@apexhotels.co.uk, with all proceeds going to charity.
Paul Mooney, Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa General Manager said: “We are halfway through 20 weeks of fundraising, and we are delighted to support some wonderful charities and community projects along the way.
As part of our 20th anniversary celebrations, we wanted to give something back to Dundee, a city that welcomed us so warmly when we opened in 2003, and that we have had the pleasure to serve ever since.
Our gala dinner will be an opportunity to bring the community together to celebrate and raise money for good causes. With great food, music and plenty of familiar faces, it should be a night to remember!”
Apex City Quay Hotel & Spa first opened its doors in Dundee on March 21st 2003 and was the 3rd of owner Norman Springford’s properties to join the Apex family. Since then, the hotel has sold up to a million rooms, hosted over 1000 corporate events, 200 weddings, served over 850,000 meals at the Quayside Bar & Grill, given 200,000 treatments at Yu Spa.
