Towel origami was popularised in the 1990s on a cruise line – so the story goes – by a Thai housekeeper who kept folding passengers’ clothes into animals and the guests loved it so much that they soon moved onto towels. Although we don't turn our guests' clothes into animals, we do like to have fun with towels!
A Pretty Decent Proposal
With hotels in some of the most romantic cities in the UK, it’s no wonder that many couples use our luxury rooms to pop the question.
Our dedicated housekeeping team have worked with many guests to plan the perfect proposal in their room. While the guest whisks their other half away to explore the city, our team get to work to create swans, hearts or pretty much anything you can think of, to display on the bed waiting on their return. Usually with the special question written in rose petals.
No Crocodile Tears Here
Our housekeeping team like nothing more than to put a smile on the faces of the little ones. They are known to chat to younger guests to find out what animals they like and what they are excited about doing on their trip.
In Dundee, the team found out that a young guest celebrating his birthday loved pirates and so a crocodile towel was waiting for him when he returned to his room later in the day.
A Friend to Welcome You Home
When arriving at a hotel, our aim is for it to feel like a home from home. Guests are always delighted to be welcomed by a specially created friend. As well as our customary duck.
Many of our guests tell us that they don’t have the heart to unravel a towel elephant and use it so we often find our towel creations haven't changed much over the guests' stay. The works of art don't go unnoticed.
At Apex, we want you to have your stay, your way and this is just one way that the team go above and beyond to ensure you have a special trip, unique to you.
tHE SIGNATURE SWAN & other surprises
Love is always in the air at Apex and many returning guests know and love our signature swan. Although we've been known to create many variations on this classic towel design.
