Name: Claire Primrose
Role: Spa Manager
Hotel: Waterloo Place, Edinburgh
What is your typical day at Yu Spa like?
I would describe a typical day at Yu Spa as rewarding. With our spa at Waterloo Place being smaller in size, I get the opportunity to build a great rapport with every guest and can ensure that they're all treated like VIPs.
What’s the best part about your role?
Having the ability to make someone feel like they can switch off from this busy world we live in. I love being able to do the odd treatment as part of my week, it keeps my hand in and allows me to experience what our therapists experience.
If you could pick any role at Apex what would you do?
I would (for 1 day only) be a chef! I love to cook however, comparing my usual spread for 2 people to cooking for 100 may be quite the jump.
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
You can achieve anything you set your mind too; you just have to believe in yourself and know that others around you are rooting for you.
What is your favourite way to relax?
I enjoy reality TV shows - there's nothing more exciting than someone else’s dramas! I also really enjoy going on walks with my miniature Dachshund, Lola.
If you could have any superpower, what would it be & why?
I wish I had the ability to read people's minds. I always like to know what others are thinking and I find people, and the way their minds work, so interesting.
What’s your favourite bar of chocolate?
I really enjoy white chocolate buttons.
What has been your most unusual day at work?
It has to be from when I worked on a cruise ship. On a busy day at sea we rescued 164 refugees from a Broken Yacht off the coast of Greece. We closed most areas of the ship to get them onboard safety. I was part of the operations team and helped ensure that everyone had fresh food and water, dry clothes and the essential medical care they so desperately needed. They were disembarked in Greece to a facility to help refugees. We went back every 2 weeks when we docked in Greece to check in and make sure everyone was okay.
Don't forget to say hello to Claire when you next visit Yu Spa, and ask her any questions you have - she's happy to help!
