What is a typical day at Yu Spa like?
I enjoy my role and the variety keeps me really happy. I couldn’t be stuck behind a desk for too long. I spend a lot of time in the plant room, keeping the pool temperatures and chlorine levels at the correct amount, testing water, and getting everything ready to welcome our guests and members. I'm often on the open shift so love that I get to see the same faces every morning at 06:30.
My main day-to-day tasks include water testing, opening and closing the spa, speaking with members and guests and help to organise the team's daily tasks.
What’s the best part about your role?
The team always say 'ask Jed, she'll know' and I love being the go-to person for all problems and queries. The things I love most are working with the team in general, chatting to members and building a relationship with them, and problem solving.
If you could pick any role at Apex Hotels what would you do?
I wouldn't leave the department that I'm currently in. I'd like to progress to the next level within the spa although I did say something the other day about joining the maintenance team...
What’s the best piece of advice you have ever been given?
Be yourself, don’t be afraid to show confidence.
What is your favourite way to relax?
Running or spending time with my family. We have a baby (6 months old) so life isn't always relaxing, but it’s certainly not dull.
If you could have any superpower what would it be & why?
To go back in time and change my path, still end at the same destination but change the way I got here. Or to be able to breathe underwater would be fun.
