In that time, hundreds of couples have said ‘I do’, thousands of families have splashed in the pool and countless groups have celebrated birthdays, holidays, special meals and more.
The community in Dundee is very important to the hotel and the team, and so it was only fitting to mark the occasion by giving something back. To celebrate two decades in business, the hotel has raised over £8000 as part of a 20-week campaign to raise funds and support community projects across the city.
They have worked with a range of local charities since December, including the Dundee Bairns, where over 100 festive hampers were distributed to under pressure families and Maggies Culture Crawl, a sponsored walk to Dundee’s cultural havens, raising money for people living with cancer.
Other activities included a quiz night, the distribution of charity donation vouchers to local businesses and a Christmas novelty item sale for Grey Lodge Settlement, a local Hilltown charity working with disadvantaged young people across Dundee.
The Charity Ball is a chance for Dundonians to come and celebrate together all while supporting two extremely worthwhile causes – Dundee Bairns and Maggie’s Centre Dundee.
Dundee Bairns is a renowned children’s charity that supports community projects in areas of high deprivation to target the most vulnerable children. The main aim of the charity is to challenge food inequality for children and to provide nutritious meals, as well as other basic needs which will reduce pressure on parents to provide.
Maggie's Centres provide free practical, emotional, and social support to people with cancer and their families and friends. Maggie’s Centres complement the work of the NHS and, in Dundee, the specialist staff offer one-to-one advice as well as group sessions, workshops and courses aimed at helping to address the physical and psychological impact of living with cancer.
Taking place on the 24 March, guests will be welcomed at 7pm for a delicious three-course dinner, drinks, and surprise entertainment. Partygoers can dance the night away while raising much needed funds for these wonderful causes through ticket sales and a grand auction.
Tickets will be £85 per person or £750 for a table of ten. The hotel will only deduct the cost price for the event, ensuring the charities receive maximum benefit of all ticket sales.
Clients, local businesses, and the local community are encouraged to make a cash donation and/or to provide a gift as an auction prize. During the evening there will be a silent auction as well as a raffle to raise more money for the charities.
For the next two months, hotel staff will continue to raise funds, including a sponsored walk from Edinburgh to Dundee, a charity golf day at Carnoustie and a 100-mile Triathlon.
