The historic Holburne Museum will be taken over by the artist’s unique artistic vision, from 3 May to 1 September 2024. The selection of Mr Doodle’s personal sketchbooks will provide the starting point for an exhibition that will fill the gallery and spread across the walls, floor and ceiling of the Holburne Museum, and beyond.
Get Lost in Austen
As one of Bath’s most famous residents, Jane Austen has become synonymous with the city. So, it makes sense that many of her popular works have been filmed in her city.
Born in Hampshire in 1775, she and her family soon moved Bath and called it home. Sydney Place, Green Park buildings, Gay Street, and Trim Street are all Jane Austen approved. You’ll truly be lost in Austen, especially if you visit the Jane Austen centre.
For those visiting just as summer is coming to a close, the Jane Austen Festival is a fantastic time to be in the city. From 13 - 22 September, it is the largest and longest running Jane Austen Festival in the world. The festival always kicks off with the Regency Costumed Promenade, which fills the streets of Bath with over 500 people in Regency dress.
Other regency hits filmed in Bath include productions such as Persuasion, Northanger Abbey, The Pursuit of Love, and The Duchess.
A Bath in Bath
For centuries, Bath has been the city of relaxation. Visit the famous Roman Baths, a UNESO World Heritage site over 2,000 years old.
During the summer holidays, there will be daily craft activities to keep your kids busy with here and throughout many of the museums and attractions.
From the 20th July- 31st August, they are offering the unique experience of seeing the baths at night. The Roman Baths will remain open until the torch-lit hours of 10pm, with last entries at 9pm. Enjoy a historical night out and drinks from their pop-up bar.
Enjoy yourself some self-care and R&R at the Thermae Bath Spa! (No Romans have been in this one!) Enjoy the 360-degree rooftop views from the natural hot spring pool.
Ladies would often “take the waters” bathing and drinking from the mineral-rich hot springs, which claimed to cure a lengthy list of ailments. However, Bath’s many cafes, bars, vineyards, and distilleries offer far more appealing alternatives nowadays!
